Itchy Poopzkid – anyone who has listened to music in the last few years, visited live clubs and festivals or just switched on radio or TV could not have overlooked this band. With more than 500 shows played so far and the new record ready to rock, these guys became a very important part of the German rock music scene.
But how did it all come about?
The punk rock band Itchy Poopzkid was founded in 2001 by Sibbi, Panzer and Saikov. Since then, these three are inseparable and can be seen together 24/7 travelling around in order to fulfill their big dream: a show at Wembley- Stadium. The old stadium of course, which would have to be rebuilt for this special treat.
With the classic line up drums, guitar, bass, and vocals by Sibbi & Panzer, they deliver a rocking show with lots of boldness and even more charm that definitely makes every crowd move around with crazy energy.
After releasing three EPs on their own, Itchy Poopzkid made a big note of exclamation in October 2005 with their debut album heart to believe. The record sold copies in the higher four-digit area and they toured for more than 15 months.
Even while playing more than 110 shows in 2006 they managed to lock themselves into a windowless studio and stayed there until the summer was over and the record done. Time To Ignite was released in March 07 and was the ignition for the - so far - most exciting year in band history:
Again more than 100 shows in 12 months, rocked during two tours (spring & autumn), as well as several festivalappearances, such as Area 4, MTV Campus Invasion, Swiss Greenfield, Highfield, Hurricane and also at the Quicksilver Surf Weltcup "Pro France" in South France.
The band won the six piece TV show "MTV Band Trip –Madsen vs. Itchy Poopzkid" and was nominated for the MTV European Music Awards. They received Power-Play-Rotation of all three videos on MTV and numerous other TV stations. Time To Ignite sold four times as many copies than their debut album and for the first time Itchy Poopzkid entered the Single and Album charts – what a year!
Itchy Poopzkid decided to skip their more than deserved break and started 2008 with songwriting for the third album right away. They played gigs only for very special occasions, such as the secret show with Millencolin in Cologne or handpicked festivals such as Frequency or Open Flair. A good record needs its time and even for Itchy Poopzkid it was a whole new experience - they dedicated a total of five months to their songwriting.
Just as the predecessors heart to believe & Time To Ignite - the new record was recorded at the Schaltraum Studios with producer Achim Lindermeir. It’s called Dead Serious - and it is meant to be taken literally!
As the jump from first to second album was musically a big step - it must be said that for the new album they managed to surpass it. This album is even more vivid, more multicolored, and even more to the point than the forerunner. Between instruments such as piano (Crazy Eyes, Learn to Drown) and accordion (Waiting for the Waves) they even converted a shopping cart into an instrument (Last Goodbye).
The band disregards apparent genre limits, and breaks out in all directions – but still remain unmistakably- Itchy Poopzkid!
Dead Serious was released January 23rd, 2009 as a Digipack and in limited edition as flame red Vinyl! It entered the album charts at position 39 - new band record and a clear announcement to all Top 40 bands!!
Early in 2009 the band played a very successful tour followed by lots of summer festivals such as Greenfield and Taubertal. Before touring 4 weeks in Germany, Switzerland and Austria for the second time this year, the guys will pack their gear and play some UK shows in late September.
